Privacy Policy

1. Who runs this site

Find Polonia is operated by Polish Australian Youth Gathering (PAYG), a registered Australian not-for-profit. Contact: hello@findpolonia.org.au.

2. What we collect

We collect only what is necessary to run the service: (a) information you submit voluntarily through the contact form, the event/organisation submission forms, and the newsletter subscription (name, email, message); (b) limited, anonymised analytics (see section 5).

3. Where data is stored

Directory content (organisations, events, articles, resources) and form submissions are stored in Supabase, which serves as our database. Supabase hosts the data on AWS infrastructure in ap-southeast-2 (Sydney, Australia), so directory content stays within Australian data residency. Supabase Inc. operates under its own privacy policy and is SOC 2 Type II compliant.

4. Maps

Interactive maps on the events and organisations pages are provided by Mapbox. When you load a map, your browser contacts Mapbox’s servers, which may process your IP address in accordance with Mapbox’s privacy policy.

5. Analytics and cookies

We use essential cookies to make the site function (e.g. remembering your language choice and your cookie preference). For visitor analytics we use Plausible — a privacy-first, cookieless tool that does not track individuals across sites and does not collect personal data. Plausible captures aggregate visit counts, referrers, and broad device/country information. No identifiers are stored in your browser, so the cookie banner does not need to gate analytics.

6. Offline caching (Progressive Web App)

When you visit the site, a service worker stores recently-viewed pages and static assets (JavaScript, CSS, images, icons) in your browser's local cache so the site loads quickly and remains usable when you go offline. This cache lives entirely on your device — no data is sent to a remote server as part of caching. You can clear it at any time by clearing site data in your browser, or by uninstalling the app if you have added it to your home screen.

7. Newsletter

Newsletter subscription is opt-in and requires your consent. Subscriber lists and delivery are managed by Buttondown (Buttondown LLC, USA), which stores your email address, language tag, and engagement metadata. You can withdraw your consent at any time by clicking "unsubscribe" in the newsletter footer or by emailing hello@findpolonia.org.au.

8. Contact form

Information submitted through the contact form is used solely to respond to your enquiry and is retained for as long as necessary. We do not share it with third parties.

9. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact hello@findpolonia.org.au.

10. Changes to this policy

We will publish material updates to this policy on this page with a new "last updated" date.
